Funairi Hospital Special Features

Admission/Treatment of Patients with Infectious Diseases

As a designated medical institution for type-II infectious diseases, Funairi Citizens Hospital admits patients with infectious diseases such as poliomyelitis or diphtheria, providing the necessary care not only for patients from Hiroshima City but also for infectious disease patients from surrounding municipalities.

Nighttime Emergency Medical Treatment

  • Funairi Hospital starting providing nighttime and holiday emergency medical treatment for internal and pediatric medicine starting in June 1975.(Consultation hours: 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM of the next morning)
  • A nighttime emergency room was opened in June 1977 with nighttime emergency medical treatment provided every night starting from July.
  • Consultation hours were extended from April 2000 and nighttime emergency treatment was expanded.(Consultation hours: 6:00 PM to 8:30 AM of the next morning)
  • Cooperative efforts with the Ophthalmologists and Ear, Nose and Throat Associations resulted in the start of emergency treatment outside of regular hours from April 2004.(Consultation hours: Sat. 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM.Reception time until 10:30 PM.)
  • Nighttime emergency treatment for internal medicine was transferred to Hiroshima City Hospital from Dec. 25, 2006.(However, the hours of general internal medicine examinations was extended.Consultation hours: 9:00 AM to Noon, and 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM.Reception hours: 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM, and 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM.)

Daytime Emergency Pediatric Treatment on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays

With the cooperation of the Medical Association, Hiroshima University, public hospitals and others, Funairi Hospital has been providing daytime emergency pediatric treatment on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays since October 2002.

Medical Examinations of Atomic Bomb Survivors

Funairi Hospital provides medical checkup for persons who were exposed to the atomic bomb, as well as health guidance and the necessary medical treatment.

Emergency Treatment During End-of-Year/New Years Holidays

The cooperation of the Medical Association, Hiroshima University, public hospitals, Pharmaceutical Association, Nursing Association and others allows Funairi Hospital to provide emergency medical treatment around-the-clock from 9:00 AM on Dec. 31 until 8:30 AM on Jan. 4.

Clinical Departments/Consultation Hours

Internal medicine and pediatrics are available from 9:00 AM on Dec. 31 to 8:30 AM on Jan. 4. Ear, nose and throat, and ophthalmology are available daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM from Dec. 31 to Jan. 3.
